No one is a rock. No one is an island. We all need comfort, solace, advice and encouragement – especially when dealing with cancer. Becoming part of a community and sharing our experiences can greatly alleviate the isolation so prevalent in our society today – and connecting to those who are and have gone through the same illness can be a particularly effective way to learn from others and share your own insights and experiences. We welcome you to our sisterhood of sharing and support. – Marybeth and Debbie
I always thought that ovarian cancer is one of those 'silent' cancers that hide as they grow, and by the time they're found, things are very scary, but then I learned that bloating and looking pregnant when you're not could be one of those warning signs… does anyone else have info about how to identify ovarian cancer?
these can be symptoms. But also a change in bowel movements. I have just found out in June that I had stage 3 ovarian cancer. I am a picture of health. No systems. all my yearly checkups were up to date. all I had when I went for my yearly checkup was a bloated feeling by the end of the day and a change in bowel movements. Told this to the doctor and with my age he wanted to do further tests. CA125 bloold test was elevated, did a vaginal ultersound and found a swollen ovaria with fluid and then ordered a cat scan and it confirmed the cancer. Just finished 3 rounds of chemo, had debulking surgery to remove it all, and will followup with 3 more rounds of chemo in a few weeks. Go on Google and type in sympotoms of ovaian cancer and you will see more about this cancer.
I experienced lower abdominal pain during and after intercourse and vigorous exercise, (boot camp-type of class). This was the only symptom I had, otherwise I felt very well. I was diagnosed with Stage I ovarian cancer and had a tumour that was about 4 X 3 inches. It filled my pelvic cavity and that is why I had the pain.
